Hey again, jammers! Okay, so I sent an E-mail to Animal Jam HQ about the dating an d stuff on this game. This was part of the reply.

We encourage role playing in Animal Jam, and having families with husbands and wives and children is sometimes part of that! But using AJ to date online is not role playing, and we want you to know that we understand that."
So is dating, marrying acceptable? Well not neccessarily. You can't really use AJ as a dating site trying to talk about yourself to people you don't even know. You can marry, have families and all that. So just go and have fun out there jammers! Don't get caught up all this dating and complicated stuff! :P
